Pangolin scales (Chuanshanjia) is used with Chuanxiong rhizome (Chuanxiong), Notopterygium root (Qiang Huo), Pubescent angelica root (Du Huo) and Ledebouriella (Fang Feng).4. Beginning of carbuncles and swelling manifested as red, hot, painful swollen skin. Pangolin scales (Chuanshanjia) is used with Honeylocust thorn (Zao Jiao Ci). Tendrilled fritillary bulb (Chuan Bei Mu), Frankincense (Ru Xiang), Myrrh (Mo Yao), Red peony (Chi Shao) and Honeysuckle flower (Jin Yin Hua).
Pangolin scales (Chunshanjia) should be used cautiously in sores that have already ulcerated. This substance is contraindicated during pregnancy.
